Delegates from China and the U.S. are flying into Britain this weekend, ready for trade talks to try and break an impasse in negotiations.

Vice Premier He Lifeng and his team are meeting delegates from the U.S., including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. This is the second round of talks.

Last month, negotiations in Geneva were discribed as "in-depth, candid and constructive" with both sides agreeing to establish an economic and trade consultation mechanism, which will see its first meeting in London in the coming week.

It took a phone conversation between Presidents Xi Jinping and Donald Trump to get things moving again.

In an exchange that has been described as cordial and productive, the leaders of the world's two largest economies agreed to resume negotiations.

After months of heightened rhetoric, it's hoped these talks will reset the U.S.'s relationship with Beijing and finally put an end to a trade war that's dominated the news for months.
