In October of 1937, during China's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Japanese army, armed with modern weaponry, rapidly pushed into north China. But in Yangmingbu, Shanxi Province, China's poorly equipped Eighth Route Army launched a daring surprise attack on a Japanese airfield with just one battalion, destroying 24 enemy aircraft in under an hour.
