These two photos capture a symbolic scene outside the United Nations headquarters in New York City. One shows young students of diverse backgrounds walking past the "Sphere Within Sphere" sculpture; the other offers a close-up view of the artwork itself.
This intricate bronze sculpture – featuring one sphere emerging from within another – can be interpreted as a symbol of a new world rising from the old, and a promise of a future less troubled and less destructive.
