Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi on Monday.

Xi said China and Vietnam should ensure a smooth flow of trade and called on the two countries to steadily advance cooperation in infrastructure construction and enhance connectivity.

He said China and Vietnam should firmly uphold the multilateral trading system and urged the two countries to work together to push for an economic globalization that is more open, inclusive, balanced and beneficial to all.

Both China and Vietnam shoulder the historic mission of realizing national rejuvenation and accelerating national development, Xi said, adding that the two sides should deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation and build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that better benefits the two peoples.

The two sides should deepen cultural cooperation and hold activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges, Xi said, noting that the two sides should implement more projects that win the hearts and minds of the people and benefit their livelihood.
