A technical issue in the U.S. Customs system, which temporarily affected the processing of freight exempt from any new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, has been resolved.

The glitch, which lasted for over 10 hours, impacted shipments already en route from China and countries currently granted a 90-day tariff reprieve.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed that the issue has now been fixed.

The Automated Commercial Environment, a system where imports and exports are declared, had not updated the duty rates for in-transit shipments to the latest levels set out by U.S. President Donald Trump's April 9 pause on "reciprocal" tariffs, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
