Tens of thousands of migratory birds have arrived at the Liaohekou National Nature Reserve in Panjin City, northeast China's Liaoning Province. Located along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway – one of the world's busiest bird migration routes – the reserve provides a crucial stopover for these seasonal travelers.
China is a biodiversity hotspot for avian species, home to over 1,500 bird species (roughly 13 percent of the world's total). More than 800 are migratory, with four of the planet's nine major migration routes traversing the country.
