Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Thursday went to the Lao Embassy in China to mourn the passing of Khamtay Siphandone, former president of Laos and former chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP).

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, wrote in the condolence book and expressed deep condolences for the passing of Khamtay.

Comrade Khamtay is an outstanding leader of the older generation of the Lao party and state and has made important contributions to the development of relations between China and the Laos, Wang said.

He added that China is ready to work with the Lao side to promote building a China-Laos community with a shared future, guided by the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries.
