Editor's Note:
2025 is the Year of the Snake. In celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year (on January 29), the Shanghai Museum has selected 13 exquisite relics from its collection and on loan, to unveil the continuity and evolution of the legend of divine snakes. The exhibition Slithering into Spring: A Celebration of the Year of the Snake kicked off at the museum on Tuesday and is set to run until March 2.
In Chinese culture, the snake is a prototype for the dragon totem and it is revered as a "little dragon." (Photos: Lu Ting/GT)
